FAQ

What you might need to know

  • Who are the mentors in the program?

To prepare our clients for the world our mentors come from a variety of backgrounds. There is no requisite degree or skill needed other than the ability to educate and make a positive change in an individuals life.

  • What can a mentor expect as far as interaction goes?

Networking Perspectives will host numerous events throughout the year, such as, Banquets, Parties, Ceremonies, Activity days, and other affairs to provide our clients and mentors an environment to socialize. We also ask our mentors to be able to establish a line of communication with our youth, and respond to them in an appropriate manner of time.

  • How much money will I spend being a mentor?

We prefer you invest time rather than money on our youth. The objective is to provide an alternative perspective to our youth’s life and give them experiences that will help them become better individuals. If you are to spend money on your outing we recommend you seek low cost activities, like going to the movies or grabbing a bite to eat, as to properly develop a bond. Networking Perspectives will provide donor supported activities to allow you to interact with our youth and other mentors. We may also send you tickets to events for your attendance.

  • Will I have to replace a parent?

No, our youth have parents or guardians in their life. They need you to be a mentor; someone who can spend quality time with them. Someone they can confide in and learn from.

  • What are some good ways to spend time with the youth?

Share an activity that gives you something to have a dialogue about. Go to the library, spend some time at the park. Go to a gym and workout. Even if you just take a ride around town to listen and discuss music, you want to select activities that allows you to learn more about one another. Most importantly keep it simple and educational.
